The northern boundary is in the vicinity of Mt Joseph, 1682 ASL. The land includes the Army Tekapo training area plus adjoining farms.

There are tracks for all levels of competency. There will be a multitude of tracks from short 1-2km kids tracks to medium length 10, 20 & 30km tracks. There will then be a few marked longer tracks for individuals and families who want to enjoy the scenery, but cover greater distance.
A special feature of this event will be a group guided trail. These guided groups will depart at regular intervals and loops are in excess of 55km. Fuel will be able to be purchased on this longer guided trail.
Riders wishing to do the guided trail will meet at pre-designated points at designated times. The riders will be divided into two groups depending upon skill level, fitness and the speed they wish to ride at. The guided trail will be suitable for intermediate to expert riders. Those selecting the expert groups will ride faster, cover greater distance and venture into more challenging terrain.

Fire Restrictions
Tekapo is usually a high fire risk in late January. All bikes/riders will need to have a fire extinguisher. Do not be disappointed and turn up without an extinguisher. No extinguisher, no ride.
All riders will be checked to ensure they have a workable extinguisher with them.
Didymo
The Tekapo Army Training Area is free of didymo and the Army and surrounding landowners are keen to keep it that way. Bikes will be checked upon arrival to ensure they are clean and dry.
Medical
NZ Army medics will be onsite, together with St John Ambulance. Track marshals will carry first aid kits.
Fuel
Tekapo Township (5 minutes from Tekapo Army Camp) has 91 and 95 octane petrol. For the longer track, fuel will be able to be purchased at the 25km point. This will be 95 octane. Riders will need to carry their own pre-mix oil.
