WAIOURU SAFARI – 2-DAY GUIDED QUAD/SIDE-BY-SIDE Safari

The dates shown are confirmed but subject always to NZ Army requirements regarding Army activities. All bookings must be made online. This guided tour is strictly limited in numbers and bookings are on a first received basis.
The Waiouru Safari is an amazing and popular event. Saturday you choose the best marked course that suits you, your machine and the speed you wish to go. Book your Demo in the amazing X3 Canam Maverick and get blown away by the latest Canam Technology.
On Saturday the event will based near Lake Moawhanga. The site is very picturesque. The trails are just brilliant. Course Number one. This course will be about 25-30 Kms in length. It will be designed for the more experienced driver with some fast sections. Course number 2 will be about 25-30 kms and will be tailored and restricted to drivers who wish to have some time in the seat at normal speeds. Course 3 will be a short 4-5Kms course specially designed for demonstrating the many Canam Models.
Sunday a guided Safari with three different groups to choose from through the 163,000 acres of Waiouru military training area. The event is specifically designed for quads (4wd) and side-by-sides. There will be three groups to choose from so you will never be out of your comfort zone while you explore this Al[pine wonderland.
Those who have done this event before will attest it is pretty hard to better the terrain, the military life, the helpful marshals and the overall experience of being at Waiouru with your chosen vehicle.
As per our normal policy, you will be able to join a group of people of similar ability and style. The most adventurous achieving a distance of up to 160Kms. The more sedate over 120Kms.
There will be an accommodation Option for those who wish to stay in the Barracks on Friday and Saturday night and have their rations provided. There will also be an option for those who wish to arrange their own accommodation and food. For those who choose this option you will be able to Purchase a Saturday only Ticket. The ride will commence at 8.15am Saturday with a briefing. You will not be able to ride of course unless you have attended the safety briefing. This may affect your decision as to which option you would prefer to purchase. Approximately 2 weeks before the ride we will send you a detailed briefing paper giving timings and places for all meetings etc.
Participants will need to be ready for an early start on Saturday (8.15 AM). Friday dinner will be provided as part of the event fee for those who purchase the accommodation option in the main mess hall within Waiouru Military Camp.
A compulsory briefing for participants will be held at 08.15hr hours on Saturday Morning You will be issued with your Id Tag at the briefing. You must affix this to your machine as your weekend ID. No Tag no Ride.
Offlimits is a charitable trust and our mission is to raise funds to support the health and welfare of servicemen and servicewomen. The cost of Waiouru Safari includes: For those who choose the accommodation option. Dinner Friday Night. Army barrack accommodation Friday and Saturday night. Meals from Friday night through to lunch Sunday. Machine washing facilities, Machine recovery, plus guides, medical support, radio communications between each group and base. For those who choose the ride only option, you must be at the breifing point (Lake Moawhanga) 8.15am ready to go. There will be a safety briefing at this time and you will be issued with a ID tag for the event. You will not be able to ride unless you are briefed. This may affect your decision regarding the ease of living in when purchasing your place in the Safari
The entry fee for this years event will be: Accommodation provided Rider $365. Passenger $200. For those choosing to stay off site and arrange their own meals and accommodation the price will be Rider $250, Passenger $130. A One day event pass only (Saturday), no accommodation no meals. Rider $130. Passenger $70. Helmets are compulsory. Only 4wd drive Quads will be admitted.
Registrations will open on September 16. Registrations can only be done on line. Riders will ride in three or four groups, depending upon vehicle numbers, rider competency and rider expectation, and vehicle type. Numbers are limited so entries are on a first-registered basis.
Cancellation and refunds
Events could be cancelled or modified due to military requirements, weather conditions or unforseen logistical issues which make the running of events either unsafe or unable to be conducted on the scheduled dates and in the locations advertised.
